Encharge
Event-driven marketing automation for SaaS
A clean behavior-based automation builder for SaaS lifecycle work, priced fairly until you need transactional email.
SaaS and product-led teams who want behavior-triggered onboarding, trial conversion, and reactivation flows in a visual builder, on unlimited seats.
Transactional email and event triggers are Premium-only at $129/mo, so product teams often cannot start on the cheaper Growth plan.
Reach for it when product behavior drives your emails and a solo marketer runs the show. Skip it for cold outreach or plain newsletters.
What you're actually getting
Encharge is a behavior-based marketing automation tool aimed at SaaS and product-led teams. You feed in product events and third-party data, then build automated journeys that fire off what people do inside your app.
The drag-and-drop flow builder is the center of it. You map an onboarding or trial-conversion sequence, see the whole journey in one view, and branch on behavior, segments, or lead score.
It also covers broadcasts, A/B tests, lead scoring, and transactional email, so one tool sends your receipts and your nurture. Every plan comes with unlimited team seats.
The visual flow builder is clean, fast, and actually logical, no endless clicking through menus or confusing branching rules like you find in Mailchimp. I can map out a full onboarding or nurture sequence in minutes, see the entire user journey in one view, and make edits instantly.
Where it earns its keep
The sweet spot is lifecycle automation for a SaaS product: trial-to-paid nudges, onboarding sequences, and win-back flows triggered by real usage.
Reviewers who came from Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign praise how fast the flow builder is. One Capterra reviewer maps a full nurture sequence in minutes and edits it live, with no confusing branching rules.
For a solo marketer or small team, the unlimited seats and clean UI mean you can run real behavioral campaigns without a dedicated ops person. Capterra sits at 4.9 and G2 at 4.7.
You need this if you love automations and data. The one thing I'd change is that I can't create appealing forms for the form page.
Where it'll bite you
The integration library is small, around 48 native connectors against ActiveCampaign's 900-plus. The big names are covered, HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe, and Segment, with Zapier filling the rest, so check your niche tools are on the list before you commit.
Transactional email and event triggers sit behind the $129 Premium tier. Product teams who need magic links or receipts cannot start on the $79 Growth plan, so price the tier you actually need up front.
Advanced workflows have a learning curve. Several reviewers say the deeper flow logic is not immediately obvious and could use more tooltips. Budget a week to get fluent before you trust it with revenue-critical sends.
There is a learning curve in the beginning if you come from simple email tools. Some advanced options could use more tooltips or examples. The template library could be bigger.
What it costs, really
Two paid tiers, billed by subscriber count. Growth is $79/mo annual ($99 monthly) for 2,000 subscribers with 10x that in monthly email sends. Premium is $129/mo annual ($159 monthly), adds transactional email and events, and lifts sends to 12x. Over 50,000 subscribers moves you to a custom Enterprise quote.
There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial. The bill climbs with your contact count, and extra email runs about $100 per 100,000 sends over the limit.
Some parts of the platform aren't immediately intuitive, and advanced workflows take time to fully understand. Once you get past the learning curve, it helps reduce manual work and keeps customer communication more consistent.
So far after a month or so nothing to complain about. I did have an issue where the bulk email stopped sending but that was my fault and rectified fast.
Same job, other tools
