Production-grade scraping and cloud browser API

Last updated August 23, 2026
The take

The scraping API with the highest independently measured success rate, worth it when your targets fight back and someone on your team owns the credit meter.

Great for

Dev teams scraping defended sites daily who need anti-bot bypass to just work, and who will model their real credit cost before committing.

The catch

Credit multipliers quietly inflate the bill. A page needing residential proxies costs 26 credits, not 1, so a $30 plan covers closer to 7,700 hard-target pages than 200,000.

Bottom line

Reach for it when success rate matters more than price per page. If you only scrape easy HTTP, cheaper APIs get you there for less.

What you're actually getting

Scrapfly is a scraping API first, with a cloud browser, screenshot API, extraction API, and crawler bundled under one API key. You send a URL, it handles proxies, anti-bot bypass, and JavaScript rendering, and returns HTML, Markdown, JSON, or screenshots.

The differentiator is ASP, its anti-bot engine. It chains 20+ bypass vendors behind one parameter, so you do not configure per-target rules. Scrapfly publishes per-target success rates: Cloudflare 98%, Akamai 97%, DataDome 96%.

Billing is success-based. Failed requests are not charged, which is rare in this category. The trade-off is that each feature you enable multiplies the credit cost per request.

The API is straightforward to integrate and handles the complexity of web scraping behind the scenes; proxy rotation, anti-bot bypass, and JavaScript rendering all just work without having to manage that infrastructure ourselves.

Where it earns its keep

It earns its keep on hard targets. Sites behind Cloudflare, DataDome, or Akamai that break cheaper APIs. Scrapeway's August 2026 benchmark ranked it #1 out of 8 scraping APIs with a 98% success rate, against an industry average of 55%.

For a GTM team, the useful part is turning defended pages into clean data. The Extraction API takes a page plus a prompt and returns structured JSON, and the crawler walks a whole site under budget controls, which covers competitive monitoring jobs like price and listing tracking.

The integration surface is broad for an API product: official SDKs for Python, Scrapy, TypeScript, Go, and Rust, plus an MCP server for agent workflows. Capterra sits at 4.9 across 238 reviews with 99% positive sentiment.

I really like the experience so far. I tried other scrapers but they were nowhere near this successful. Value for Money is perfect. Automatic proxy selection saves money most of the time.

Where it'll bite you

Credit multipliers are the trap. A plain HTTP request costs 1 credit. Add JavaScript rendering and it costs 5. Add residential proxies and it costs 25. A screenshot costs 60. The $30 Discovery plan's 200,000 credits sounds like 200,000 pages, but on defended targets it covers closer to 7,700.

Credits expire monthly with no rollover. Reviewers estimate 10 to 30% waste on spiky workloads. Free and Discovery plans hard-cap at quota, so a busy day can stall mid-job. Pro and above switch to pay-as-you-go, which is smoother but removes the predictable ceiling.

Support is inconsistent. Most reviewers praise it, but a May 2026 Capterra review describes an overcharge dispute where support denied the bug, blamed the user, then offered credits instead of a refund. Model your real cost before you commit volume.

Customer support is useless. I was overcharged and support initially denied there was an overcharge, then claimed I would not be charged for it, then when I was overcharged offered credits instead, then claimed the overcharge was my fault, then claimed the overcharge was as expected.

What it costs, really

Free gives you 1,000 credits with no card. Discovery is $30/mo for 200,000 credits, Pro is $100/mo for 1M, Startup is $250/mo for 2.5M, Enterprise is $500/mo for 5.5M. Custom contracts run $1,200 to $30,000+/mo with dedicated proxy pools and MSA, DPA, BAA, and HIPAA terms.

The number that matters is cost per successful page on your real targets, not the sticker price. Run your actual URL mix through the cost estimator before picking a plan. Annual billing gives 2 months free.

Scrapfly has been a solid tool for our data collection needs. We use it for monitoring product availability across thousands of store locations. The API is straightforward, support is responsive, and it handles JavaScript-rendered pages that other scrapers choke on.

Scrapfly pricing making sense is going to depend heavily on your use case. The overall effort to implement Scrapfly is a selling point for sure but the ease is largely a one time benefit. Ongoing costs for extraction and crawling should be closely checked against the benefits of you using a DC Proxy pool or Residential Proxy pool and the ongoing cost per gb.
