Webflow
Visual website builder with AI
The visual website builder marketing teams reach for when design fidelity matters, if a designer owns the build and the budget survives the stacked plans.
Design-led marketing teams and agencies who want pixel control without code and a CMS that editors can actually update.
Pricing stacks fast. Site plan plus workspace seats plus AI credits, and the May 2026 hike pushed many bills up 40 to 50 percent.
Reach for it when a designer owns the build and the site is core to brand. Skip it for a one-page launch or an app with logins.
What you're actually getting
Webflow is a visual website builder that hands you a CSS-grade design canvas, a real CMS, hosting, and an AI site generator in one platform.
The AI Site Builder, refreshed in February 2026, turns a text prompt into a multi-page site with structure, copy, a design system, and animations. It is a first draft you then refine.
Underneath, you control layout and spacing by hand, which is where the precision comes from. Expect a real learning curve, weeks before you feel productive.
Webflow bridges the gap between design and development beautifully. I use it for client projects at Hoffman Homes and the no-code approach speeds up iteration cycles significantly. The learning curve is real, but worth it.
Where it earns its keep
It earns its keep on marketing sites and landing pages where design fidelity matters and editors need to update content without filing a ticket.
The CMS is genuinely good for content-rich sites, and a built-in connection to Claude and ChatGPT lets AI assistants help build and analyze your site.
Agencies keep choosing it because the exported code is clean and handoff to developers does not require a rebuild.
Compared to WordPress, Webflow is expensive with limited free features, although it has really cool additional features that will make the site I build stand out.
Where it'll bite you
Pricing is the first trap. A site plan plus workspace seats plus AI credits stack, and the May 2026 simplification pushed many bills up 40 to 50 percent. Reddit lit up over the change.
AI credits burn fast. Freelancers report 30 percent of a monthly allocation gone in a day of basic generation, and the limits were not communicated clearly.
The learning curve is the second wall. Expect weeks before productivity, and there is no live chat or phone support on any tier.
A huge congrats to webflow for squeezing every possible dollar they can out of me and my clients. They just keep finding new ways to make me pay more for the platform, or putting paywalls behind features.
What it costs, really
A free Starter plan covers two pages on a webflow.io domain. Paid site plans start at $15/mo yearly for Basic and $25 for Premium with the CMS, per site.
Team is $2,500/mo with an annual contract, Enterprise is custom, and AI credits now ride on top of every workspace. Price your real seat count and credit use before trusting the sticker.
I genuinely love Webflow, the editor feels like magic, animations are buttery smooth, and it's honestly one of the most satisfying no-code tools I've ever used. That said, I really wish Webflow had a plan that fits smaller projects better.
Following the recent price changes, this is going to jump from $476USD to $2k USD plus seats and workspace. I'm Australian so there's already a 40% conversion rate. This is unviable and I need to replatform.
Same job, other tools
