B2B sales prospecting and engagement
Prospecting, enrichment, and sequencing on one login, worth it when someone owns data validation and the credit meter.
Lean B2B teams and founder-led outbound that want one surface instead of a data vendor, a sequencer, and an enrichment tool.
Data accuracy varies by segment, and credits get consumed faster than the low seat price makes you expect.
A solid first system for founder-led outbound. Skip it if you need premium clean data straight out of the box.
What you're actually getting
Apollo is three tools in one login: a B2B contact database, an enrichment layer, and an email, LinkedIn, and calling sequencer, with CRM sync on top.
You search companies and people by role, industry, tech stack, and intent, reveal an email or phone, then drop them into a sequence or push them to HubSpot or Salesforce.
Worth knowing up front: Apollo's own privacy policy calls the company a registered B2B data broker, and its terms make you responsible for contacting people lawfully. It hands you the data and the sending machine, and does not promise the record is current.
I would recommend not using Clay for initial enrichment because it is usually more expensive. What people suggested here - Apollo, Lusha, FullEnrich, and there are dozens of other good ones - do the job. Keep in mind that phone enrichment is significantly more expensive than emails.
Where it earns its keep
For a lean revenue team, the appeal is one login instead of a data vendor plus a sequencer plus an enrichment tool. The filters are the strong part, with 65+ data points to narrow a list before anyone touches it.
The path from search to sequence to CRM happens without exporting a CSV between every step.
Reviewers back this up: G2 and Capterra sit around 4.5 to 4.7 across thousands of reviews, praising breadth, filtering, and time saved. It is a solid first system for founder-led outbound.
It makes it easy to find relevant companies and decision-makers, build targeted prospect lists, and manage outreach from one platform.
Where it'll bite you
Data quality is the recurring complaint, and it varies a lot by segment. A big list can still carry wrong titles, stale records, and missing phones, and the harsher Trustpilot page sits at 3.1 with 37% one-star reviews. Sample your exact ICP and geography and verify a real chunk before you send at volume.
Credits are the second bite. A low seat price does not mean unlimited data work: phone reveals, enrichment, waterfall lookups, exports, AI research, and the dialer all burn credits at different rates. Run one representative workflow, check the credit history, and set a budget.
Sending still rides on your mailbox health, so Apollo's recommended 50 emails a day and its warmup steps matter more than the send button.
I work mainly with Apify. There are also other providers that let you pull tons of data you simply cannot get from Apollo and the like.
What it costs, really
There is a permanent free plan with a small credit allowance to test with. Paid runs $49, $79, and $119 per seat per month on annual billing for Basic, Professional, and Organization, or $69, $99, and $149 monthly, and Organization needs at least three seats.
The seat price is half the story. Credits are the real meter, consumed by exactly the data work you bought Apollo to do, so two teams on the same plan can pay very differently.
its UI can feel overly complicated because it tries to combine too many things in one place. Performance also feels slow at times, likely because it's handling too many workloads at once.
