Crayon

Competitor website and market tracking platform that monitors 100+ data types and turns them into sales-ready battlecards via AI.

Last updated August 23, 2026
The take

The default CI platform for revenue teams with a defined competitor set and a dedicated owner, priced like it knows it.

Great for

Product marketing and CI teams who need to monitor everything competitors do and push battlecards straight into Salesforce, Slack, and Highspot.

The catch

Alert noise is the tax you pay for breadth. Ten percent of reviewers flag too many irrelevant alerts, and battlecard editing is the top specific gripe at nearly one in five reviews.

Bottom line

Reach for it when a dedicated person owns the program and competitive deals are a meaningful share of revenue. Without that owner, it decays into an expensive RSS reader.

What you're actually getting

Crayon is a competitive intelligence platform that monitors competitor websites, pricing pages, job postings, reviews, social media, news, and SEC filings across 100+ data types. It uses AI to score, summarize, and prioritize what it finds.

The output flows into battlecards, newsletters, and alerts that land in Salesforce, Slack, Teams, Highspot, and Seismic. Reps can also ask Crayon Answers, a gen AI assistant embedded in their workflow, for competitive answers on demand.

The Sparks agent automates the heavy lifting: it summarizes and prioritizes changes and generates battlecard updates. An MCP Server feeds validated intel into ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot so AI responses stay grounded in your actual competitive reality.

I love Crayon's awesome UI. It integrates smoothly with my sales execution tool, Outreach.io, making it easy to access information right from where I work every day. The interface is great and easy to use, while its AI capabilities are strong. Crayon is AI Native and offers a user-oriented workflow, which was a key reason for us moving some capabilities from Seismic to Crayon.

Where it earns its keep

It earns its place when competitive intelligence is a full-time function. A dedicated analyst who curates the feed, maintains battlecards, and drives adoption across the sales org gets real return from the breadth of monitoring.

The Salesforce integration is the backbone. Battlecards sit on opportunity records, win/loss data flows back in, and reps never leave their CRM to find competitive intel. Win/loss analysis plugs into partners like Clozd and TruVoice, so deal outcomes feed the intel loop.

G2 sits at 4.6 across 385 reviews and TrustRadius at 8.9. Crayon was named a Leader in the inaugural 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Competitive and Market Intelligence Platforms, alongside Klue.

All of which is to say that Crayon is the best tool I've ever used for intelligence analysis- it's incredible.

Where it'll bite you

Alert noise is the defining trap. Monitoring 300M+ sources means capturing a lot of data that is not actionable. A minor website CSS change, a reposted job listing, a social media manager liking a post, and these all generate alerts. Ten percent of Crayon reviewers flag too many irrelevant alerts, the highest rate among the four leading CI tools.

Battlecard editing is the second friction point. Nearly 19% of reviewers cite issues with the battlecard editor, from rigidity to limited real-time co-authoring. If your team lives in battlecards, test this workflow during the demo.

The hidden cost is the operator. A $30K Crayon subscription assumes a $100K+ analyst to run it. Total cost of ownership lands closer to $155K to $250K per year. Without that owner, usage rates drop sharply after the first 90 days.

Getting to the competitive info I need feels more time-consuming than I'd like. It would be great if this data lived in slack or similar tools that I spend more time in. Needing to sign into crayon via SSO whenever I need to access it can be slightly annoying

What it costs, really

There is no published pricing. Every deal is a custom, demo-gated quote, priced primarily on how many competitors you track. Based on Vendr procurement data across 90+ purchases, the median annual contract is $28,750, with a range of $12,400 to $47,200.

Entry deployments (Essentials) start around $15K to $25K per year. Professional runs $25K to $40K, and Enterprise deals exceed $100K per year. Professional services add 5 to 15% on top, and implementation takes 7-8 weeks. Multi-year commitments and Q4 negotiations typically shave 15 to 20% off the list price.

Crayon has been innovative in incorporating AI into the tool, both to enhance productivity and to enhance the outcomes of analysis. The fantastic thing is these features started rudimentary, have gotten better, and are set to get better still - I could recommend this as an area for improvement (I suppose), but they're already working to take advantage of the latest AI features to make the user experience and our outputs even better.
