AI-powered structured web extraction

The take

The most pedigreed scraping API on the market, with real AI extraction, if your team already lives in Scrapy and can model a tiered bill.

Great for

Scrapy-native engineering teams who want one API for proxies, rendering, and AI extraction, and who can stomach per-request tier pricing.

The catch

The price tier is hidden. Zyte auto-assigns each site to one of five difficulty tiers, and a bill can land 40x above your estimate before you notice.

Bottom line

Reach for it when your team writes Scrapy spiders and crawls at volume. If you just need a quick data pull, a flat-credit scraper is cheaper and simpler.

What you're actually getting

Zyte is the company behind Scrapy, the open-source Python framework most serious scrapers are built on. The commercial product, Zyte API, wraps proxy rotation, anti-bot unblocking, browser rendering, and automatic extraction into one endpoint.

The standout is AI extraction. Trained AI models return clean, structured data for products, articles, job postings, and SERPs with a single setting. For custom fields, a scraping-tuned LLM pulls arbitrary attributes from a natural-language schema.

You only pay for successful responses. Rate-limited and failed requests are free, which flips the bandwidth-cost risk most proxy vendors push onto you.

In our team, we use other proxy providers as well, but when they fail, the only option we have to get the data is the Zyte API. It works every time and with great accuracy.

Where it earns its keep

It shines on defended targets. Reviewers consistently report Zyte getting through Cloudflare and DataDome where lighter tools fail, and the per-request country setting lets one spider cover multiple markets.

The Scrapy integration is first-class. Moving an existing crawler to Zyte takes close to a settings change, and Scrapy Cloud handles hosting and scheduling without new infrastructure.

G2 sits at 4.4 across 125 reviews, with praise clustering on reliability, anti-blocking, and support responsiveness for technical users.

I only use the Zyte Scrapy Cloud and for sure it's the best platform to host and run your Scrapy scrapers. It is very easy to use, reliable and fast. The price is actually surprisingly good, given how expensive most cloud solutions have gotten in the last few years.

Where it'll bite you

Tier pricing is the trap. Zyte auto-assigns every site to one of five difficulty tiers, and you do not know which until you start scraping. HTTP ranges from $0.13 to $1.27 per 1K, browser from $1.01 to $16.08, a 16x spread you cannot see coming.

One Trustpilot user reported a bill 40x higher than expected, and the spend-limit control that should protect you reportedly needed an enterprise subscription to work. Zyte rolled out new hard spending caps and alerts in 2026, but the tier opacity itself remains.

Debugging failures is painful. A ban comes back as a generic error with no useful detail, and a page can return successfully yet come back empty, so a crawl quietly produces nothing.

One thing we are usually concerned about is pricing. For our crawlers that run every day and generate millions of requests, there are times when we have to let a client go because the benefits we are getting end up being less than what we are paying.

What it costs, really

There is no single number. Pay-as-you-go starts at $0.13 per 1K HTTP requests on simple sites and climbs to $1.27 on advanced ones. Browser-rendered requests run $1.01 to $16.08 per 1K.

Monthly commitments of $100, $200, or $500 bring 25 to 52 percent volume discounts. AI extraction adds $0.0004 to $0.0016 per data type, and custom LLM attributes bill on token usage. Price your own pilot on your real target mix before trusting any estimate.

I find Zyte really easy to use, and it was very easy and pretty self explanatory to set up. We were able to integrate the information we pull into our website to directly compare pricing with other leading companies.

What I like most is the live consumption dashboard and the support from their team. They offer best-in-class scalability, and there are very few instances where data comes back unreturned. One area I think they could improve is the pricing structure. There's a lot of uncertainty around pricing because there isn't a fixed cost; instead, it's usage-based.
